Here’s his NY Times obituary.
I saw his work many years ago, but I was first aware of who was responsible for it when I read his section of The Copy Book again and again. It was a massive education in just a few pages.
No one has anything to say about one of the world’s best writers passing away.
I’m lost for words.
Both he and Helmut Krone signed the program from an event I attended in NYC years ago honouring him. Helmut signed first. He wrote “It was not me, it was he”. Bob looked at that and wrote “That’s what HE says”. Still have it somewhere. I was such an ad fanboy.
I used to have his Do This Or Die at above my desk when I was a junior. Silly behaviour, now I look back at it. But it struck a chord.
